2mm Aluminium Fascia – Internal Joiner | Type 1
2mm Aluminium Fascia – Internal Joiner | Type 1
Wherever two fascia board lengths meet along a roofline run, the joint needs to be covered. Without a joiner, you are left with a visible gap, an expansion joint that collects dirt and moisture, and a break in the colour line that interrupts the continuous finish. On rooflines across Chelmsford, Brentwood, Basildon and the wider South East, the joiner is the small piece that makes the difference between a roofline that looks properly finished and one where every 3 metre joint is visible from the street.
The internal joiner sits behind the fascia boards, bridging the expansion gap between two lengths. A colour matched joint cover is then bonded over the front face for a flush, seamless finish. It is the simplest fitting in the fascia system, but you need one at every joint along the run.
Product Overview
The 2mm aluminium fascia internal joiner from Online Metal Store Ltd is a connection piece for the Type 1 fascia profile. It bridges the expansion gap between two Type 1 fascia 3m lengths, holding them in alignment while allowing for thermal movement. Available in the same 14 depth options (150mm to 800mm) as the parent fascia, the joiner is custom fabricated at our Chelmsford, Essex workshop and powder coated in any RAL colour.
You will need one joiner for every joint between fascia lengths. On a 9 metre fascia run using three 3 metre lengths, you need two joiners. Order the joiner in the same RAL colour and depth as your fascia lengths, external corners, internal corners and stopends for a fully matched system.
Key Benefits
Creates a Seamless Joint Between Fascia Lengths
The joiner bridges the expansion gap between two fascia boards, keeping them aligned and preventing the joint from opening or misaligning over time. A colour matched joint cover bonded over the top gives a flush, continuous finish along the full run.
Allows for Thermal Expansion
Aluminium expands and contracts with temperature changes. The joiner allows the fascia lengths to move within the joint without buckling or distorting. A 3mm expansion gap between lengths is standard, and the joiner bridges this gap while permitting movement.
14 Depth Options
Available in every depth from 150mm to 800mm to match the full range of Type 1 fascia sizes.
Powder Coated in Any RAL Colour
Every joiner is colour matched before dispatch, using the same RAL code as the fascia lengths and other fittings for a consistent finish.
UK Manufactured
Fabricated at our workshop in Chelmsford, Essex alongside the fascia lengths and other fittings.

How to Fit a Fascia Internal Joiner
Position the first Type 1 fascia 3m length and fix it to the rafter tails or backing timber. Slide the joiner onto the end of the first board so that it sits behind the fascia face. Butt the second fascia length up against the first, leaving a 3mm expansion gap between the two. The joiner bridges this gap behind the boards, holding both lengths in alignment.
Bond a colour matched joint cover over the front face of the joint using low modulus silicone sealant. Apply a bead of colour coded sealant around the joint for a weathertight finish. The joint cover conceals the expansion gap and gives the fascia run a continuous, unbroken appearance.
How Many Fascia Joiners Do I Need?
You need one joiner for every joint between fascia lengths along a continuous run. Count the number of 3 metre fascia lengths you are using and subtract one. That gives you the number of joiners needed for that run.
-
6m run (2 lengths): 1 joiner
-
9m run (3 lengths): 2 joiners
-
12m run (4 lengths): 3 joiners
-
15m run (5 lengths): 4 joiners
Each corner and stopend is a separate fitting. The joiner is only used where two fascia lengths meet in a straight run.
Where Fascia Joiners Are Used
Every Straight Fascia Run Over 3 Metres
Any roofline longer than 3 metres needs at least one joiner. On domestic properties across Chelmsford, Brentwood, Colchester and the South East, a typical front elevation might need two or three joiners. On longer commercial runs, the count increases accordingly.
Renovation and Timber Replacement
When replacing old timber fascia with aluminium, the joiners are an essential part of the order. They are easy to overlook when measuring up, so always count the number of joints before placing your order.
Commercial and Industrial Rooflines
On commercial buildings with long, continuous fascia runs (10m, 15m, 20m or more), the number of joiners adds up. Ordering the correct quantity upfront avoids delays waiting for additional fittings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an aluminium fascia joiner used for?
A fascia joiner is a connection piece that bridges the expansion gap between two fascia board lengths in a straight run. It sits behind the fascia boards, keeping them aligned, while a colour matched joint cover is bonded over the front face for a seamless finish.
How many fascia joiners do I need?
One joiner for every joint between fascia lengths. Count the number of 3m lengths in a continuous run and subtract one. A 9m run needs 2 joiners, a 12m run needs 3, and so on.
What size fascia joiner do I need?
The joiner depth must match the depth of the fascia boards it connects. If your fascia lengths are 200mm deep, order a 200mm joiner. Available in the same 14 sizes (150mm to 800mm) as the parent Type 1 fascia.
How do you fit an aluminium fascia joiner?
Slide the joiner onto the end of the first fascia board so it sits behind the face. Butt the second board up with a 3mm gap. Bond a colour matched joint cover over the front of the joint with low modulus silicone. Seal with colour coded sealant for a weathertight connection.
Can the fascia joiner be colour matched?
Yes. The joiner is powder coated in any RAL colour. Order it in the same RAL code as your fascia lengths, corners and stopends for a fully matched roofline.
